The Dolomites are on the bucket-list of many passionate hikers. They are well-known for their vertical rocky walls overlooking the valleys and the sensational 360° views capturing the alpine pastures and three-thousand meter peaks. To fully understand their beauty, power and fascination, the Dolomites need to be explored firsthand. There are countless outdoor activities to experience the Dolomites thanks to their extremely varied naturalistic environment. The best the Dolomites can offer to hikers is the hut-to-hut hiking trips.

In the Dolomites, a hut to hut hiking trip is more than just a walking holiday. Hiking in the Dolomites lets you discover the geological origin of this unique mountain system. On a hut-to-hut trek, you’ll experience the culture of the region and immerse yourself into the wild nature.

Often described as the most beautiful mountains on the planet, the Dolomites are divided into nine mountain ranges. At MONT Trekking, we designed a number of hut-to-hut trips that cross the Dolomites with itineraries varying in length and difficulty. The most popular choices are the hut-to-hut trips in the area of Cortina D’Ampezzo such as Alta Via 1 or our Cortina Dolomites Hut to Hut Hiking Trip that combines the most spectacular parts of Alta Via 1 and 4. To the west from Cortina d’Ampezzo, there are the groups of Sassolungo, Puez-Odle, Sella and Marmolada where a passionate hiker has a great choice of itineraries of all difficulty levels to choose from. For hikers looking for an off-the-beaten-track adventure, we designed hut-to-hut trips in the Dolomites’ wildest regions of Brenta and Friuli.

Thanks to their geological conformation, the Dolomites are perfect mountains to organise hut-to-hut hikes. There is an extensive network of maintained trails. It includes numerous historical trails with their origins dating back to the past centuries as well as the trails developed in the past decades. Hiking hut to hut, you will stay at a new hut each night, and thus enjoy the evening in a new location. Most huts in the Dolomites are set between 1500 and 2600 meters of altitude. This altitude range covers a full range of the mountain landscapes, including the forest, alpine meadows above the treeline and rocky high-altitude terrain. Every morning you will pack your backpack and walk to your next hut, typically 4 to 8 hours depending on the difficulty of your trek. Trails in the Dolomites are well-marked and easy to follow. There are many huts in the Dolomites. They are manned and provide a very good level of service and comfortable accommodation. One can walk for days in the Dolomites, always finding comfortable lodging with hot showers and good meals at the huts.

With MONT Trekking, you can decide to request an expert local mountain guide that will accompany you throughout the entire itinerary.
